The Division of Student Life and Undergraduate Education brings together all aspects of the undergraduate student experience. Many events at Rice are designed to create a sense of community, engagement, and belonging. Below are some highlighted events, as well as event-related resources to support students in planning and connecting with others.
Highlighted Events
- O-Week: The main purpose of O-Week, or New Student Orientation, is to get undergraduate students registered for classes and introduce them to Rice's academic requirements and opportunities. The secondary purpose of O-Week is to introduce students to Rice's policies, resources, and values, as well as the tradition, culture, and community of the residential colleges. - Families Weekend: Families are invited to join the Owl community on campus during Rice Families Weekend! From engaging lectures offered by top faculty to campus tours to the annual family tailgate and Rice football game, Families Weekend gives parents, families and loved ones the opportunity to get a taste of the unique Rice experience. The full schedule of events is released each September.
- Alumni Weekend: During Alumni Weekend, the entire alumni community is invited back to campus for a weekend of celebration and reconnection. Details about the weekend – including class reunions and a variety of campus events for alumni – are usually posted each September.
